Fitting Exercise Into Your Daily Routine For REAL

Working exercise into your daily routine is time saving and energy boosting. There’s no better way to burn extra calories and if you don’t have time to formally stop everything you’re doing and exercise, it’s essential. I can list several tips and suggest you follow them, but to fit exercise in effectively, you have to evaluate your daily routine and come up with a plan especially catered to your schedule and surroundings.
For example, you work a full-time day job. You wake up and don’t have much time for anything besides getting to work. Directly after work might entail dating, time with friends, kids, or those last minute happy hours. You may do some formal exercising once or twice a week, but would like to get in more.
1. Consider where you live. Can you bike to work, train or light rail once or twice a week?
2. Can you actually take the stairs? If it’s feasible, do it. If you work in a high rise with key coded entries, even taking several floors may not be an option. so…
3. Are you able to take a full lunch break? If you are and are within walking distance, walk to lunch. If not, go for a half hour walk and eat for half. It doesn’t have to be every day, even 2 is good.
4. Do it before bed. If you’e burnt out from work, it doesn’t take much thought to go out for a jog or do some yoga
There are too many scenarios to try to list. You may be extremely busy with work and work through your lunch break. You may work from home and have trouble motivating yourself to get out. You may be a full time mom and barely have time to do anything other than shower. You have to assess your lifestyle and what you can fit in for yourself. Walk or bike somewhere instead of drive once or twice a week. Throw the kids in the stroller or get a co-worker to go with you. Take a jog after the kids go to bed once a week. You don’t have to stick to a strict schedule or think of it as a drastic lifestyle change. Just think about how you can fit it in each day, even if it’s just 15 minutes at a time…even if you’re walking to happy hour from the office
Last but not least, one of the easiest forms of exercise to fit in is yoga. It can be done anywhere with enough floor space (about the size of a yoga mat) and weather is not an issue. It tones muscle and can be used to awaken the body in the morning or relax at night. If you’re new to yoga, take a couple classes or start out with some introductory videos. It’s quick and easy to learn to do some routines on your own.
